Adam L. Berman

President and CEO

Adam Berman has 14 years of research and development and sales and marketing experience in cardiovascular medical devices. Most recently, Adam was Vice President of Research and Development for MedicalCV, Inc., providing leadership from concept to market launch of a novel cardiac laser ablation system. Prior to MedicalCV, he was Regional Sales Manager for Coalescent Surgical, a company focused in minimally-invasive cardiac surgery, which was acquired by Medtronic in 2004. Previously, he was in Clinical Procedure Development for a surgical robotics company, Computer Motion, which was acquired by Intuitive Surgical. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for TVA Medical, Inc. and Castlewood Surgical, Inc. Adam received his BSE Magna Cum Laude in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his MSE in Bioengineering from the University of Washington.

William E. Cohn, MD, FACS, FACCP, FAHA

Founder

William (Billy) Cohn, MD, is a cardiovascular surgeon and the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgical Technology at the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas. He is the co-director of the Cullen Cardiovascular Research Laboratory and an Associate Professor of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at The University of Houston. Billy received his undergraduate degree from Oberlin College, and received his MD from Baylor College of Medicine, where he remained for general surgical and cardiothoracic surgical residency training. There Billy also served as the last chief resident under the legendary Michael DeBakey. After graduation, he took a teaching position at Harvard Medical School where he rose to the rank of Associate Professor of Surgery and served as an attending cardiothoracic surgeon and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for 12 years. Billy has more than 60 United States patents awarded or pending for his medical innovations and has been honored as the Distinguished Inventor of the Year by the Intellectual Property Owners Association. In addition to TVA Medical, Inc., Billy is founder or co-founder of numerous medical device companies, including Sentreheart, Viacor, Houston Medical Robotics, Apaxis and others focusing on the development of new minimally invasive therapies.

Gary H. Miller

Vice President Research and Development

Gary Miller has over 26 years of experience in bringing minimally-invasive medical devices from concept to commercialization. He has been responsible for the development of numerous products in cardiology, radiology, urology and gynecology. He has worked with California-based medical device companies including Sentreheart, Epicor (acquired by St Jude), FemRX (acquired by J&J/Ethicon Gynecare), Vnus Medical Technologies (acquired by Covidien), Unisurge and Advanced Cardiovascular Systems (acquired by Eli Lilly/Guidant). Gary received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, and is a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Metals and the Society of Plastics Engineers. He has more than 30 patents awarded or pending in the medical device industry.
